Family Orchard Night

Friday, Oct. 18th starting at 5:30 will be our first fellowship event. We will meet at Fruit Ridge hayrides and farm in Kent city. Bring a picnic and chairs. We will enjoy fellowship over our meal, a campfire, donuts and cider. The petting farm is open free of charge until dusk. The cost is $7.00 for the hayride or corn maze per person.

Please RSVP to Kim Urbanski or sign up at church (sheet by the elevator) by Monday, Sept. 30th. We need some estimate of numbers for our donut order!

The Urbanski Family will be starting a C.I.A. this fall in their home on Sunday evenings from 6 to 7:30 pm, beginning on September 8th. The C.I.A will be using the book Family Faith Walks by Kelly J. Haack as a guide and focus on building our children’s faith, equipping us as Christian parents, and extending our faith into the community around us. Anyone and everyone is welcome (and yes this includes children)!

Reformation Hymn and Organ Festival

On Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. St. James Lutheran Church (2040 Oakwood Ave NE, Grand Rapids) is hosting a festive service. St. James is celebrating its organ’s 50th anniversary and commemorating the Lutheran Reformation. The choirs from Messiah, Our Savior and St. James will be forming a combined choir. Keith DeJonge and Beth McKay from St. James, and guest organists Rick Krueger (Messiah) and Christina Roberts (Our Savior) will be playing the organ. St. James’ handbell choir will be ringing along with a special brass quartet. Brief reflections by local pastors will be presented for three of the hymns. All attendees will be invited to take part by joining in and singing some uplifting hymns. The service will be about 1 ¼ hours in length with light refreshments to follow. All are welcome!

Women's Retreat

LADIES, you don't have to be 40, 50, or 60 to attend the Oct. 5th Women's Retreat from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Come enjoy Bible study, fellowship, and mini creative classes of canvas painting, journaling, and making witness bracelets. Pastor Berg will lead us in "Empty Vessels Filled."

Cost: $20 and includes lunch, coffee, and a donut.

Reservations required by Sept. 27th.
